Phase 1 Painting now completed.

Posted by Micro Update Ltd on November 6, 2008

The first phase of the painting has been completed. This covers the 2 elevations viewable from Aller Park and the A380 road. Phase 2 will commence next year commesurate with good weather.

The Management are to be congratulated on their efforts, and a number of grateful comments have been received here. The residents should also be congratulated, along with Ward Councillors, for their steadfastness in obtaining the final result. The efforts of the Aller Park Residents Action Group are also appreciated.

It beggars belief why residents have had to walk the walk, tread the treadmill and suffer other inconveniences and indignities from Teignbridge District Council who have a well paid, but incompetent Planning Department. This could and should have been insisted upon at the initial planning application – what else is this Department in existence for? May they and  Councillors involved in the initial decision making hang their heads in shame!                     Some chance.

Complaints of ongoing noise pollution

Posted by Micro Update Ltd on October 13, 2007

13Oct07:
Dear Cllr Hook,

We are now in receipt of a letter from Mr Eaton (Environment, T.D. C.) in reply to our complaints of ongoing noise pollution from the Sunlight Laundry. This letter, particularly concerning the protracted delay in responding to our complaints), is all irrelevant, inaccurate, ineffective and the usual type of poor service and protection that we are becoming to expect of Teignbridge District Council.

Before I reply to it, we would appreciate some detailed words from you as to the actual conversation that took place between yourself and Mr Eaton.
——————————————————————————–

(08Oct07: Thank you for your e-mail received today. I have received the information from the company and I have had detailed discussions with Councillor Hook regarding the case. I have drafted a letter explaining the investigation and once this has been typed I will e-mail you a copy due to the postal strike.)
——————————————————————————–
If anyone believes apathy will overtake hideous events and circumstances imposed on us by a negligent Council – then they should think again. Having had such a magnificent source of pollution thrown upon us by a Council apparently so keen on protecting the environment, we for one household will not be cooperating with any calls to cooperate beyond that prescribed by law to recycle etc.

Yours sincerely,

L. Edgecumbe.

Report from TDC tree planting scheme at CLS Laundry

Posted by Micro Update Ltd on May 30, 2007

30May07:
Dear Mr Edgcumbe
As promised, this is the latest report from TDC regarding the existing tree planting scheme at CLS Laundry.
I will forward to you a copy of any subsequent communication I receive from the Landscape Officer.
Regards
David Corney-Walker

Subject: CLS LAUNDRY-Tree planting

Dear Cllr Corney-Walker

I understand from John that you were enquiring about the existing tree planting scheme at CLS Laundry.
I visited the site on 18 April and drew up a schedule of works required to protect & maintain the tree planting, including replacement planting of dead/dying, damaged or poorly established trees. The schedule was sent to CLS on 19 April, but to date I have had no response from them. I have emailed their General Manager, Paul Pearson again today & unfortunately he is on holiday until next week.

As far as the maintenance is concerned (including watering, weed control etc) this should be carried out as a matter of urgency, if it has not been attended to. The replacement planting should be carried out in the autumn 2007.

The planting scheme is still at an early stage and is establishing. Overall, establishment has been good but some replacements are needed, along with ongoing maintenance.

Yours faithfully

CLS Laundry

Posted by Micro Update Ltd on April 23, 2007

23Apr07: Subject: CLS Laundry [Ed. and the “invisible trees”, as seen through Teignbridge Councils eyes]

Dear Cllr Hook

Tony Page has asked me to respond to your queries regarding the landscape scheme at CLS Laundry.

Overall the planting scheme has established successfully, with good rates of growth put on by many trees, notwithstanding some difficult climatic growing conditions over the last two years. However, some trees have failed to establish or suffered die back since planting and need to be replaced.

The planting has been inspected at least every 6 months, sometimes more frequently and was last inspected in December 2006. I am meeting with the CLS site manager tomorrow to inspect the planting and agree any necessary replacements and maintenance work. The ongoing maintenance is being carried out by landscape contractors for CLS Laundry.

CLS will be required to replace any dead trees in the autumn under the TPO and the numbers and locations will be agreed on site with their representative

With regards to the planning application for the extension & related conditions, we are waiting for CLS to submit their detailed landscape proposals (along with details on the colour of the building) for consideration by the committee.

If you need any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully
Olwen Maidment
Landscape Officer
